There will be more musical instruments than cars in parts of Belfast city centre during the first week of August.
Dozens of streets will be closed to traffic during the world’s largest festival of Irish music and dance.
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann – the all-Ireland Fleadh – is being held in Belfast for the first time from 2-9 August.
A wide area from the front of City Hall, past Castlecourt Shopping Centre to the Ulster University campus on York Street will become a car-free zone.
The road closures are for safety reasons, with Belfast City Council saying it expects about 800,000 visitors to the city.
Lord Mayor Róis-Máire Donnelly said: “We want everyone to enjoy the event, with as little disruption as possible.
“Our message is simple – don’t drive into the city centre. Walk, cycle or use public transport instead and make sure to leave extra time for your journey, whatever your plans.”
