Galatasaray have signed Wolves midfielder Mario Lemina in a £2m (2.5m euros) deal.

The 31-year-old has signed a one-and-a-half year contract worth £48,000-a week with the Turkish club, with the option of a further year.

Lemina made 28 appearances for Galatasaray during a loan spell in the 2019-20 season, when he was at Southampton, and told the club’s website, external: “Everyone knows I love this club. I’m very happy to be back at this great club.

“I will give everything for the team and the fans. I hope we can achieve all the success we can together in this great club.”

Lemina joined Wolves from Nice in January 2023 but has not played for the club since 6 January.

It followed a fallout with manager Vitor Pereira, who said Lemina would not play until the transfer window had shut, with the Gabon international having initially refused to make himself available for selection before making a U-turn.

He lost the Wolves captaincy to Nelson Semedo in December after clashing with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen following a 2-1 defeat at the London Stadium, before Pereira replaced Gary O’Neil as head coach.

Wolves are 17th in the Premier League, just two points above the relegation zone after winning five games this season.

Galatasaray are top of the Turkish Super Lig and through to the knockout play-off phase of the Europa League.

Lemina started his senior career with Lorient and also played for French club Marseille before joining Juventus in 2015.

Southampton paid a club-record £18.1m for Lemina in 2017 and he featured 52 times for them.

After loan stints at Galatasaray and then Fulham, the midfielder made a permanent move from Southampton to join Nice in 2021.
