Dan Bradbury birdied five of the last 10 holes to clinch a one-shot victory at the DP World Tour’s Joburg Open.

South Africa’s Hennie du Plessis led by two shots heading into the final round at Houghton Golf Club, with Bradbury one of three players in a tie for second.

The 26-year-old Englishman made a strong finish to take the lead before holding his nerve on the 18th to clinch his third career win.

Needing a par four to seal victory, Bradbury found himself off the green with his second shot, but a superb chip took him within a foot of the hole and he tapped in to complete a five-under round of 65 and finish on 17 under overall.

That denied compatriot Brandon Robinson-Thompson and South Africa’s Casey Jarvis, who both finished a shot further back after each carding 66 in their final round.

“I thought I had lost it on the front nine,” said Bradbury. “I had so many chances and did not take them, but it feels really good to put it together on the back nine.

“Casey and Brandon played amazing. It was pretty tight, but I somehow managed to get it done in the end.”

It was Bradbury’s third win on the European Tour, having also won the Joburg Open in 2022 before winning the 2024 Open de France.

After winning the Kenya Open and the South African Open over the past two weekends, Jarvis was denied a third straight win on the tour, something only Nick Faldo and the late Seve Ballesteros have managed before.

The world number 80 went agonisingly close to forcing a play-off as he almost made a birdie putt on the 18th, but Bradbury celebrated his first win in two years having finished inside the top 30 just once in his previous six events in 2026.

“I have been playing better than I scored so it is a wonderful relief to win a tournament again,” said the world number 171.

“I did not make it easy for myself, though, with my approach landing in the rough. Chipping is not my greatest strength so I was extremely pleased to see my shot almost drop in the hole.”
