James Hogg reports from Liverpool, on a remarkable season for Everton Football Club. For over a decade and a half, Evertonians have been in the shadow of their illustrious neighbours Liverpool FC, but the 1984/1985 season has been the most successful campaign in the club’s long history – and it isn’t over yet. Howard Kendall’s Toffees have already won the First Division league title and the European Cup Winners Cup, and are just one match away from an unprecedented treble – tomorrow they take on Manchester United in the FA Cup Final.
James investigates what it means to be an Everton fan, chatting to some of the Goodison Park faithful who have stuck by the team through thick and thin – like dyed-in-the-wool believer Reverend Harry Ross – and converts who have seen the light – like former Liverpool fan turned Everton hero, Peter Reid.
Introduced by Peter Snow.
