A major road leading to the Sussex coast has been closed for several hours following a serious collision.
The crash happened on the A23, near Crawley, at about 23:00 BST on Saturday, according to National Highways South East.
Both carriageways, between the M23 junction 11 at Crawley and the A272 at Bolney, were shut for several hours.
On Sunday, the northbound carriageway had reopened but the southbound carriageway remained closed, with a diversion in place.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service urged drivers to avoid the area “for the time being”.
Fire crews from Burgess Hill, Crawley and Horsham have been in attendance.
Sussex Police has been approached for comment.
