{"id":8477,"date":"2024-12-23T01:06:48","date_gmt":"2024-12-23T01:06:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/sport\/india-to-play-champions-trophy-matches-in-dubai\/"},"modified":"2024-12-23T01:06:48","modified_gmt":"2024-12-23T01:06:48","slug":"india-to-play-champions-trophy-matches-in-dubai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/sport\/india-to-play-champions-trophy-matches-in-dubai\/","title":{"rendered":"India to play Champions Trophy matches in Dubai"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Dubai has been chosen as a neutral venue for India to play their matches at next year&#8217;s Champions Trophy, the Pakistan Cricket Board has announced.  <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The eight-team tournament in February and March is being held in Pakistan, who said earlier this month that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/cricket\/articles\/c5yr4l8prp9o\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">India had told the International Cricket Council the team would not travel<\/a> to the country to play in the event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">As part of the same agreement, Pakistan will play at a neutral venue in any event hosted by India until 2027. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Pakistan has chosen Dubai as the neutral venue for the Champions Trophy and it has been conveyed to the ICC officially, meaning India will play its matches there,&#8221; a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Political tensions mean the two countries have not faced each other outside of men&#8217;s major tournaments since 2013, while India have not played in Pakistan since 2008.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 50-over Champions Trophy will be the first time Pakistan has hosted a global event since 1996.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Pakistan will also host the women&#8217;s T20 World Cup in 2028, when neutral venue arrangements will also apply.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The countries taking part in the Champions Trophy in addition to hosts Pakistan are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The ICC is likely to announce a final tournament schedule later next week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/cricket\/articles\/c2ldxxw4de4o\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dubai has been chosen as a neutral venue for India to play their matches at next year&#8217;s Champions Trophy, the Pakistan Cricket Board has announced.
