Adam Azim will face former world champion Sergey Lipinets for the IBO light-welterweight title on 1 February at OVO Arena in Wembley.<\/b><\/p>\n
The Briton is undefeated in 12 fights, with nine knockouts, but faces another huge step up when he takes on the Kazakhstan fighter.<\/p>\n
Lipinets, 35, is a former IBF champion who has just three defeats from 22 career bouts.<\/p>\n
“This is a chance for me to show that I belong at world level and that I’m ready to face the best,” the 22-year-old said.<\/p>\n
“He is a former world champion. He has fought some of the biggest names out there. I have a lot of respect for him and what he’s achieved in the sport, but it’s my time now.”<\/p>\n
Lipinets’ most recent win was a points victory against Briton Robbie Davies Jr in May.<\/p>\n
Azim’s promoter Ben Shalom described the contest as a “risky” choice for his fighter, while Lipinets praised the Slough native for taking the bout.<\/p>\n
“I’m glad that Adam has accepted this fight,” said Lipinets, who has defeats on his record to world champions Mikey Garcia and Jaron Ennis.<\/p>\n
“A lot of top fighters have refused to face me. I’ve never turned down a fight and this one is make or break for me. Adam is young and strong but he doesn’t have my experience. I’ve seen it all.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
