Former Southern Vipers duo Charlotte Edwards and Georgia Adams have been appointed the new head coach and captain of Hampshire women’s cricket respectively. <\/b><\/p>\n
Both will remain at the Utilita Bowl as part of the new structure in women’s domestic cricket with eight counties hosting professional teams in 2025.<\/p>\n
Adams previously captained the Vipers and is their leading run-scorer, leading wicket-taker, and most capped player.<\/p>\n
“It’s an honour to be named captain of Hampshire as we all embark on a new era for women’s cricket within the county,” Adams said, external<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n “We have a fantastic squad of players with a really good mixture of youth and experience so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in next summer with the Rose and Crown.”<\/p>\n Edwards and Adams played together in the 2016 trophy-winning season of the Women\u2019s Cricket Super League and were both involved in winning all six of Southern Vipers\u2019 trophies, along with lifting The Hundred trophy in 2023 with Southern Brave.<\/p>\n In 2022 the Vipers won their first T20 trophy, named after Edwards, before both she and Adams helped the team to become the first regional side to hold both domestic trophies at the same time in 2023.<\/p>\n “I’m delighted to remain at Utilita Bowl,” Edwards added.<\/p>\n “It’s been such a special place for me since I came here in 2016. I’m looking forward to progressing the development of an exciting group of players as we look to continue the successful legacy of women’s cricket at Utilita Bowl and within Hampshire.” <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
