{"id":6230,"date":"2024-10-30T04:17:06","date_gmt":"2024-10-30T04:17:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/sport\/formula-1-honda-and-alpine-fined-by-fia-for-breaching-engine-cost-cap-rules\/"},"modified":"2024-10-30T04:17:06","modified_gmt":"2024-10-30T04:17:06","slug":"formula-1-honda-and-alpine-fined-by-fia-for-breaching-engine-cost-cap-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/sport\/formula-1-honda-and-alpine-fined-by-fia-for-breaching-engine-cost-cap-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Formula 1: Honda and Alpine fined by FIA for breaching engine cost-cap rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Honda and Alpine have been found guilty of breaching Formula 1&#8217;s cost-cap rules for engine manufacturers in 2023.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Governing body the FIA has fined Honda, which supplies world champions Red Bull, \u00a3462,000 ($600,000) and Alpine \u00a3308,000 ($400,000) for procedural breaches of the rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Both manufacturers&#8217; costs were under the \u00a373.1m ($95m) spending limit in the regulations, the FIA said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The FIA added neither company had &#8220;sought or obtained any undue advantage as a result of the breach&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Honda failed to file accurate reporting documentation, which included incorrect excluded and\/or adjusted costs related to the maintenance of engine dynamometers, and inventories.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Alpine &#8220;delayed the exercise by the cost-cap administration of its regulatory function and submitted inaccurate reporting documents that omitted relevant information&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The French company, owned by Renault, admitted its initial assessment report &#8220;contained significant deficiencies&#8221;, the FIA said, and that &#8220;several required procedures had not been performed at all, and several other procedures had only been partially completed&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Both companies entered into so-called accepted breach agreements with the FIA over their penalties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Last year was the first year in which the engine cost cap has been imposed, and the FIA said both Honda and Alpine had &#8220;acted cooperatively and in good faith throughout the review process, and have sought to provide additional information and evidence when requested in a timely manner&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Signing up to the power-unit financial regulations is a condition of taking part in F1 from 2026 as an engine supplier, but the offences in question relate to the first year of operation of the cap, 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, the costs attributable to current engines are excluded from the cap.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/formula1\/articles\/ckg083g1xl5o\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Honda and Alpine have been found guilty of breaching Formula 1&#8217;s cost-cap rules for engine manufacturers in 2023.
