Glamorgan and Somerset were forced to sit and watch the rain as the scheduled date for the One-Day Cup final was washed out, with no play at Trent Bridge.<\/b><\/p>\n
A reserve day has been allocated for Monday, 23 September, but the forecast remains poor with more heavy rain likely to affect the Midlands.<\/p>\n
If the teams cannot play at least a 20-over match, the trophy is due to be shared between the clubs.<\/p>\n
Umpires David Millns and Rob White made the inevitable call at 14:30 BST as the rain intensified and pools of water formed on the outfield, with supporters from both counties left frustrated in the stands.<\/p>\n
The two sides are both hoping that the 50-over competition would make up for recent disappointments, with Somerset beaten in the T20 Blast final by local rivals Gloucestershire, and Surrey clinching the County Championship.<\/p>\n
Glamorgan have slumped to seventh in Division Two of the Championship, increasing the emphasis on repeating their trophy win of 2021 in the 50 overs format.<\/p>\n
A complete abandonment of the match would add to the controversy among county supporters over the scheduling of the final in late September, with a similar date already inked in for 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
