British cyclist Pfeiffer Georgi abandoned the Tour de France Femmes after getting caught up in a late crash on stage five, which also caused leader Demi Vollering to slip down the standings.<\/b><\/p>\n

Georgi went down in a mass pile-up with 6.3km to go and her team DSM-Firmenich PostNL later confirmed she will no longer take part in the Tour.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old competed for Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympics, finishing fifth in the women’s road race.<\/p>\n

She had been 45th in the general classification going into stage five.<\/p>\n

Blanka Vas of Hungary won Thursday’s stage, beating Kasia Niewiadoma, Liane Lippert and Kristen Faulkner in a late sprint.<\/p>\n

Poland’s Niewiadoma now tops the overall standings, with Dutch rider Vollering slipping to ninth overall and losing one minute 47 seconds after falling.<\/p>\n

Vollering, a team-mate of stage winner Vas, looked to be in pain as she battled to finish the 152.5km flat ride from Bastogne to Amneville.<\/p>\n

Niewiadoma leads American Faulkner by 19 seconds going into Friday’s stage six, a 159.2km ride between Remiremont and Morteau.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
