Great Britain women’s basketball match against Germany on Sunday was abandoned after a medical incident in the crowd.<\/b><\/p>\n
The exhibition match at the Copper Box Arena in London was called off after the third period when a fan alerted the Germany bench to the emergency.<\/p>\n
Medics moved into the stands to assist and raised sheets for privacy around the spectator, who was later taken away on a stretcher. <\/p>\n
Germany were leading 54-43 but both sides decided to end the match.<\/p>\n
“During the Great Britain women vs Germany showcase, a medical incident occurred involving a member of the general public,” said GB Basketball in a statement., external<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n “Following consultation with key stakeholders the decision was taken to abandon the game.<\/p>\n “British Basketball Federation want to extend thanks to both Great Britain and Germany for a fantastic display of the sport, and to the fans for their support and understanding under the circumstances.”<\/p>\n Germany will resume their preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics against the United States on Tuesday, while Great Britain have not qualified for the Games.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
