{"id":20849,"date":"2025-10-09T08:38:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T08:38:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/sport\/boxing-francesca-hennessy-is-co-main-event-for-clarke-vs-tkv-on-bbc\/"},"modified":"2025-10-09T08:38:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T08:38:11","slug":"boxing-francesca-hennessy-is-co-main-event-for-clarke-vs-tkv-on-bbc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/sport\/boxing-francesca-hennessy-is-co-main-event-for-clarke-vs-tkv-on-bbc\/","title":{"rendered":"Boxing: Francesca Hennessy is co-main event for Clarke vs TKV on BBC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Francesca Hennessy will fight former atomweight world champion Fabiana Bytyqi in a bantamweight bout on Saturday 25 October in Derby, live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 20-year-old will be the co-main event to Frazer Clarke&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/boxing\/articles\/c4g54ze7x8ko\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">British heavyweight title<\/a> fight against Jeamie &#8216;TKV&#8217; Tshikeva.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The fight night is the first installment of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/boxing\/articles\/cr74z4jkez5o\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">new partnership<\/a> between BBC Sport and promoter Boxxer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;This is my moment,&#8221; Britain&#8217;s Hennessy said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I&#8217;ll bring the energy and give viewers maximum entertainment value. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Women&#8217;s boxing has never been bigger and I&#8217;m determined to take it even further. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I&#8217;m proud to bang the drum on a night when the whole nation will be watching.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Sevenoaks fighter is unbeaten in six bouts since turning professional in 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Czech boxer Bytyqi is the more experienced fighter as a former WBC world champion, but has fought most of her career at atomweight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 29-year-old has 22 wins, two losses and two draws on her record.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom described Hennessy as &#8220;a natural star who brings charisma, excitement and real fighting talent&#8221; as she prepares to step up to world level in the next 18 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Hennessy&#8217;s fight will be part of the BBC Two broadcast, while the undercard will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Bobby Dalton will defend his English welterweight title against fellow undefeated fighter Joel Kodua while unbeaten Mancunian Mauro Silva, managed by Chris Eubank Jr, takes on Coventry&#8217;s Bradley Goldsmith in a middleweight contest.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/boxing\/articles\/c9wdzdzze5qo?at_medium=RSS&#038;at_campaign=rss\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Francesca Hennessy will fight former atomweight world champion Fabiana Bytyqi in a bantamweight bout on Saturday 25 October in Derby, live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
