Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim wants Rory McIlroy to bring a winning feeling to Old Trafford following his Masters golf triumph.<\/b><\/p>\n
United supporter McIlroy said after he won a career grand slam<\/a> at Augusta National that he would take his Green Jacket – awarded to every winner of the Masters – to the stadium “if it can inspire some better play”.<\/p>\n The Red Devils are 14th in the Premier League after a disappointing season in which Amorim has struggled to revive their fortunes. <\/p>\n In a message on Manchester United’s official X account, Amorim said he would welcome the 35-year-old Northern Irishman’s presence at a fixture in the near future.<\/p>\n “Hi Rory. Congratulations for the Masters and I want to invite you to Old Trafford to show your trophy,” Amorim said.<\/p>\n “It’s really important for us in this moment. You achieved something that a lot of people thought would be impossible and we want that feeling in our stadium.<\/p>\n “So I hope to see you soon at Old Trafford and to meet you.”<\/p>\n Manchester United lost 4-1 at Newcastle<\/a> hours before McIlroy began his final round on Sunday.<\/p>\n
