Briton Nina Hughes called for “fair judging” in Australia while fellow challenger Tiara Brown labelled world champion Skye Nicolson “Sonic the Hedgehog” at a fiery news conference on Wednesday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Sydney hosts two intriguing female world title fights on Saturday with Nicolson defending her WBC featherweight title against Brown and Cherneka Johnson defending her WBA bantamweight belt against Hughes.<\/p>\n

Hughes, 42, aims to reclaim the title she lost in controversial fashion 10 months ago<\/a> when a scorecards mix-up meant the Englishwoman was announced the winner before it was corrected and Johnson was confirmed as the victor.<\/p>\n

“All I ask for is fair judging this time. I believe I won the last fight. I am going to dominate this fight,” Hughes said.<\/p>\n

“I’ve got to dominate, I’ve got to set a fast pace. I want to be treated fairly.<\/p>\n

“I came over here last time as the champion and I wasn’t given neutral judges. We had an English judge over here but I wasn’t allowed to have him – so what’s all that about?”<\/p>\n

Hughes was first to speak at the news conference, even suggesting many Australians she had met were “embarrassed” by what happened.<\/p>\n

But Australian Johnson, also a world champion at super-bantamweight, was collected in her response.<\/p>\n

“The belt’s in front of me,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We full-heartedly believe we won that fight and I am going to win this one.”<\/p>\n

The event at Qudos Bank Arena will be headlined by former unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr as he takes on domestic rival Jake Wyllie.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
