Welsh middleweight Kyran Jones has been forced to withdraw from his highly anticipated Celtic title fight, which was scheduled for Saturday, 1 March.<\/b><\/p>\n
The 27-year-old from Newport was set to face Scottish fighter Paul Kean for the vacant Celtic middleweight title at the Vale Arena in Cardiff.<\/p>\n
In an announcement on Instagram, the undefeated fighter explained that injury had hindered his ability to train, prompting the decision to postpone the bout.<\/p>\n
“Unfortunately, a decision has been made to postpone my Celtic title fight,” Jones wrote.<\/p>\n
“Injuries have forced me out of the gym, meaning I haven’t been able to prepare to my usual standard.”<\/p>\n
Jones’ most recent victory came in November 2024, when he defeated Italian fighter Elliot Eboigbe.<\/p>\n
The Welshman assured fans that a rescheduled fight date would be announced “very soon”.<\/p>\n
The postponement has come as a blow to both Jones and the Welsh boxing scene, but the fighter remains hopeful of a swift recovery and a return to the ring in the near future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
