Great Britain’s Melissa Courtney-Bryant clocked the fastest 3,000m time in the world this year to win at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting in Boston.<\/b><\/p>\n
The 31-year-old, a two-time European indoor bronze medallist over the distance, finished in a new personal best of eight minutes 28.69 seconds – just over a second ahead of American Elise Cranny.<\/p>\n
The Welsh athlete is now the second-fastest Briton ever over the distance behind Laura Muir (8:26.41).<\/p>\n
Olympic 1500m bronze medallist Georgia Bell finished sixth in a PB of 8:36.96, one place ahead of compatriot Hannah Nuttall who also set a new PB (8:40.01).<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Dina Asher-Smith finished second to her training partner Julien Alfred -the Olympic 100m champion and 200m silver medallist – in a 300m event.<\/p>\n
But 2022 world 1500m champion Jake Wightman, who was due to continue his comeback after missing last year’s Paris Olympics through injury, missed his 1500m, posting on social media that his body had “not dealt very well” with travel to America.<\/p>\n
The European Indoor Championships take place in Apeldoorn, Netherlands from 6-9 March followed by the World Indoors in Nanjing, China from 21-23 March.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
