Orla Rabey says she “left it all out there” after breaking two Guernsey records at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The 24-year-old, who will end her competitive career with Guernsey following Glasgow 2026, broke her own island 50m butterfly record before helping the Sarnians set a new 4x100m relay mark.

Rabey clocked a time of 28.39 seconds to come second in her heat in the 50m butterfly as she finished 25th out of 52 competitors.

The time was 0.06 secs ahead of the mark she set four years ago at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham as she beat compatriot Tatiana Tostevin in their heat.

Tostevin had a time of 28.92 secs while Molly Staples finished third in her heat in 29.10.

In the relay, Rabey, Tostevin, Emma Bourgaize and Tallulah-Mae Rautenbach swan a time of three minutes 55.88 seconds.

The time took more than three seconds off the island’s previous best set at the Commonwealth Games four years ago and meant they qualified seventh-fastest for the final.

“I didn’t really know how I was going to swim, so to come out and break two records on the first day, I’ll take that,” Rabey told BBC Guernsey.
