Prem Rugby side Saracens have appointed former Sharks and Bayonne prop Ed Coetzee as the club’s new chief executive officer.

The 46-year-old made more than 300 appearances in professional rugby, playing four seasons for the Sharks in South Africa, before six years in France at Bayonne and Biarritz.

He then moved into administration, becoming commercial and marketing director at Sharks before taking over as chief operating officer (COO) and then CEO in 2019.

Coetzee has been CEO at Brive since 2024, and replaces Charlie Beall who stepped down at the StoneX stadium at the end of the 2025-26 season.

“Our goal is not only to achieve sustained success on the field, but to establish Saracens as one of the most admired and respected sporting organisations in the world of rugby.”
