Rohl was asked about Rodgers’ shock departure from Celtic on Monday night, and expressed sympathy for the Northern Irishman while focussing on his own job.

“I think the pressure is always on for a manager,” Rohl said.

“I think this is football. It’s never nice when the manager gets sacked or something like this.

“We are all together the manager in this business, but as football, I think this is why we like this at one time and sometimes we don’t like it. “

Striker Youssef Chermiti got his first Rangers goal in the win over Kilmarnock after his reported £8m move from Everton.

His celebration appeared to be a response to his critics in the stands at Ibrox after a tough start to life in Glasgow.

Rohl said Chermiti was clearly emotional but needs to choose his celebrations more carefully in future.

“A celebration after a goal is always important,” Rohl said.

“You have to understand how you celebrate sometimes. I said this when I arrived, it’s not just about improving players on the pitch, also off the pitch.

“But we spoke about this and I think he knows what to do the next time, a bit emotional, but not more. For me, it was more important that he scored.”
