Essex fast bowler Shane Snater has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the county until 2027.

The Zimbabwe-born Netherlands international has taken 236 wickets in seven years at Chelmsford, and has proved himself a valuable lower-order batter.

“Since making my debut for Essex in 2018, I feel as though I have grown into a multi-format cricketer,” the 29-year-old told the club website, external.

“I look forward to wearing the Essex shirt for more games in the future and hopefully help to deliver success to my team.”

Snater made his Essex debut in 2018 in the One-Day Cup, and helped the side to the T20 Blast title in 2019.

He made his County Championship debut in 2021 and claimed a career-best 7-98 against Nottinghamshire that same season.

Essex chief executive Dan Feist said: “Not only is he now one of our most experienced members of the dressing room, but Shane has shown his worth across all three formats for the Club on multiple occasions.”
