{"id":62978,"date":"2026-10-18T03:52:41","date_gmt":"2026-10-18T03:52:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/news\/reform-councillor-alan-feeney-quits-over-offensive-comments\/"},"modified":"2026-10-18T03:52:41","modified_gmt":"2026-10-18T03:52:41","slug":"reform-councillor-alan-feeney-quits-over-offensive-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/news\/reform-councillor-alan-feeney-quits-over-offensive-comments\/","title":{"rendered":"Reform councillor Alan Feeney quits over offensive comments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b><i>Warning: This report contains racist and offensive language.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A Reform UK councillor filmed calling Asian homeowners &#8220;parasites&#8221; has resigned from two councils and apologised for his comments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Alan Feeney, who has since stepped down from the party, was heard making the remarks during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itv.com\/news\/2026-10-14\/inside-reform-councillors-extreme-and-racist-views-on-camera\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">undercover filming for an ITV News investigation<span class=\"visually-hidden ssrcss-i2z2ig-VisuallyHidden e16en2lz0\">, <!-- -->external<\/span><\/a> in the run up to council elections in May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Feeney said he had resigned every post he held on Solihull Council and Birmingham City Council, adding that his remarks &#8220;were wrong, offensive and completely unacceptable&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He has also been suspended from his job with the prison service, with the Ministry of Justice [MoJ] describing the comments captured during the documentary as &#8220;despicable&#8221;.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In July, his register of interests with Solihull council recorded he was employed as a custodial manager, a position described on the HM Prison and Probation Service website as &#8220;the most senior uniformed officers in a prison&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Feeney was one of several Reform members featured in the ITV investigation, which was gathered over the course of a year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In it, while campaigning in the run-up to May&#8217;s elections, Feeney described an area as &#8220;infested&#8221; with Asian families and called them &#8220;absolute parasites&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He was also recorded saying no more than 1% of the UK population should be non-white.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c64g1803dkp7o?at_medium=RSS&#038;at_campaign=rss\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Warning: This report contains racist and offensive language.
