Forensic teams remain at the scene of a security alert in Lurgan where residents have been evacuated from their homes.<\/b><\/p>\n

A suspicious object is being examined in James Street.<\/p>\n

The street has been closed to traffic and pedestrians, police have said.<\/p>\n

Democratic Unionist Party councillor Peter Haire said the council has opened Lurgan Town Hall for those affected.<\/p>\n

He said it is “very concerning and disruptive” for local school children and this sort of activity was not wanted in the community.<\/p>\n

A property appears to be the focus of the investigation behind the cordon on James Street. It is cordoned off on Hill Street Presbyterian Church. <\/p>\n

It is understood to be a quiet residential street, close to a primary school and a special needs school. <\/p>\n

Parents have told local representatives they faced disruption as a result of the security alert. <\/p>\n

The bomb disposal team has left the row of houses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
