Sinn F\u00e9in will co-operate with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) over any potential investigation into the protest on the Garvaghy Road, the party president has said.<\/b><\/p>\n

Protesters have remained on the Garvaghy Road since Sunday 27 September as the fallout over the proposed Portadown District Orange Lodge march continues, and rallies on both sides <\/a>of the dispute were held on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Mary Lou McDonald has said that “there’s no question with us co-operating with any process that will unfold”.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Sunday, Portadown District Master Nigel Dawson said police confirmed to them that Saturday’s gathering on the Garvaghy Road was “unnotified” and police were “taking evidence”. <\/p>\n

McDonald and Northern Ireland’s First Minister Michelle O’Neill are among those who have attended the protest, which police have described as unnotified and “therefore illegal”.<\/p>\n

The Portadown District has maintained a presence at Drumcree Church after talks to end the parading dispute<\/a> ended without agreement on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Orangemen attempted to march again on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, large crowds are at the Garvaghy Road on Sunday afternoon, with Irish language rap group Kneecap in attendance. It’s understood the trio are holding a private meeting with local residents at a community centre. <\/p>\n

They are then expected to make their way up to the junction with Drumcree Road where residents and their supporters have been maintaining a presence for over a week. However, it’s understood the group will not be performing during their visit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
