{"id":61205,"date":"2026-09-21T14:31:55","date_gmt":"2026-09-21T14:31:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/news\/ekurhuleni-killings-south-africa-police-arrest-three-over-womans-body-in-dawn-park\/"},"modified":"2026-09-21T14:31:55","modified_gmt":"2026-09-21T14:31:55","slug":"ekurhuleni-killings-south-africa-police-arrest-three-over-womans-body-in-dawn-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/news\/ekurhuleni-killings-south-africa-police-arrest-three-over-womans-body-in-dawn-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Ekurhuleni killings: South Africa police arrest three over woman&#8217;s body in Dawn Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Three suspects have been detained in South Africa in connection with the murder of a woman in an area east of Johannesburg \u2013 the last of nine recent cases in that region that has shone a spotlight on the level of violence against women in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Under pressure to solve the spate of murders which has involved victims&#8217; bodies being dumped on a roadside, police have described the arrests of the three \u2013 a man and two women &#8211; as a &#8220;breakthrough&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Referring to all nine cases, acting police chief Lt Gen Puleng Dimpane said her officers were &#8220;working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The three suspects are due in court on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cqx2zgk8k8xvo\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">Their case relates to the death of Jabulile Ntimba<\/a>, whose half-naked body was found wrapped in a sheet in Dawn Park last Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Several of the recent victims were discovered partially clothed and with injuries, but police have stressed that they have not established whether all the deaths are connected or whether a serial killer is responsible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Addressing journalists on Monday, deputy police chief Lt Gen Tebello Mosikili said that &#8220;a team of analysts are working hard to see if there are links to all these cases&#8221; but the killing of Ntimba &#8220;appears to be an indication of a murder that stemmed from a relationship&#8230; this includes&#8230; a possible love triangle&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">South Africa has one of the highest rates of gender-based violence in the world.
