A 75-year-old man has been extradited from Australia to Northern Ireland accused of indecent assault on a woman and gross indecency with a child.<\/b><\/p>\n

The offences allegedly occurred in Northern Ireland between the late 1970s and early 1980s.<\/p>\n

He is to stand trial accused of 14 offences of indecent assault on a female and three offences of committing an act of gross indecency with a child. <\/p>\n

He is expected to appear before Laganside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

He was arrested in Victoria in 2023, and returned to Northern Ireland on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The PSNI worked with the UK Home Office and Australian authorities to locate, arrest and return the man.<\/p>\n

Sgt Davey, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s International Policing Unit, said the extradition demonstrates the PSNI’s “commitment” to tracking down those accused of serious offending.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
