The all-day outdoor festival is taking place at Crystal Palace Bowl and includes a mix of established artists as well as rising stars.<\/p>\n
“I have never performed here before – when I perform abroad most of the people don’t know me so they get to know me through the performance which I really love,” says Lella. <\/p>\n
The artist is vocally trained but says she has always loved rap, which is how she got into it. <\/p>\n
“Not everyone knows me at the [festival] because I rap in mostly Egyptian Arabic and it’s not for all the diaspora to understand, but I’m so happy to be connecting with everyone.” <\/p>\n
The likes of Saint Levant, Dystinct and Khaled are headlining the one-day festival, which feels like a step forward for Arabic music fan Mariam Azam.<\/p>\n
“Growing up we didn’t see ourselves in the media at all, and if we did it was never good representation,” the 24-year-old says.<\/p>\n
“It’s just nice to have something for us, especially in London.”<\/p>\n
Azam says she has been “counting down the days” until the festival – and she’s not the only one who’s excited.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
