Wales defender Gemma Evans has joined Women’s Super League 2 (WSL 2) side Newcastle United after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season.<\/b><\/p>\n

Centre-back Evans spent two years with the Reds having previously played for Manchester United, Reading, Bristol City and Yeovil Town.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old is one of the senior figures in Rhian Wilkinson’s Wales squad, having scored twice in 90 appearances for her national side.<\/p>\n

“I’m happy this move is finally over the line,” Evans told the Newcastle website.<\/p>\n

“I’m over the moon, I’m looking forward to meeting the girls, meeting the fans and showing them what I can do.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s a really exciting project to be part of and I can’t wait to get going.”<\/p>\n

Evans played 38 times for Liverpool, but departed after managing only Women’s Super League (WSL) appearance in 2026. <\/p>\n

She joins a Newcastle side that finished sixth in the second tier last season but will hope to push for promotion to the WSL next year. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
