A police officer has been filmed appearing to kick and stamp on the head of a man lying on the ground at Manchester Airport.<\/p>\n
The uniformed male officer is seen holding a Taser over the man, who is lying face down, before striking him twice while other officers shout at onlookers to stay back in a video shared widely online.<\/p>\n
Greater Manchester Police said firearms officers had been attacked while attempting to arrest someone following a fight in the airport’s Terminal 2 on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The force said it \u201cacknowledges the concerns of the conduct within the video\u201d, which is being looked into by its professionals standards directorate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Firearms officers had been called to the airport after reports of an altercation by members of the public, a police spokesman said.<\/p>\n
Three officers were \u201cpunched to the ground\u201d in a \u201cviolent assault\u201d when they attempted to arrest one of the suspects, he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the attending officers were firearms officers, there was a clear risk during this assault of their firearms being taken from them.”<\/p>\n
Four men were arrested at the scene for affray and assaulting emergency service workers.<\/p>\n
Three officers were taken to hospital for treatment, with one of them suffering a broken nose.<\/p>\n
Amar Minhas from Leeds was coming through arrivals when he saw the scene unfold.<\/p>\n
He told the BBC police had approached one of the men, in his early 20s, and told him he was a wanted man, before \u201cthey pinned him up against a wall\u201d.<\/p>\n
Another man then \u201cstarted on the police\u201d and a fight ensued, he said.<\/p>\n
The man who was being pinned against the wall started \u201cthrowing punches, he was Tasered, and fell to the floor\u201d, Mr Minhas said.<\/p>\n
