{"id":44558,"date":"2026-01-12T12:44:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T12:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/news\/man-admits-causing-staffordshire-golf-course-crash-death\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T12:44:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T12:44:07","slug":"man-admits-causing-staffordshire-golf-course-crash-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/news\/man-admits-causing-staffordshire-golf-course-crash-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Man admits causing Staffordshire golf course crash death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">A man has admitted killing a woman hit by a van on a golf course. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Suzanne Cherry, 62, died in hospital in April, four days after she was hit at Aston Wood Golf Club in Staffordshire by a grey Nissan, which had been involved in a police pursuit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">John McDonald, 51, admitted causing death by dangerous driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He is expected to be sentenced later today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">McDonald, from Bloxwich, along with Brett Delaney, 34, from Dudley, and Jonny McDonald, 22, from Walsall, also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">All three men had previously denied manslaughter charges last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Cherry, from Aldridge, West Midlands, was killed &#8220;while enjoying what should have been the safest&#8221; of her many hobbies, her husband said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He said his &#8220;beautiful wife&#8221; had an &#8220;amazing and infectious zest for life&#8221; before their &#8220;future together was snatched away in an instant&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cy8ydv6lzp5o?at_medium=RSS&#038;at_campaign=rss\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man has admitted killing a woman hit by a van on a golf course.
