Bus drivers working in south and west Wales are to strike continuously for two months in a dispute over pay.<\/p>\n
The Unite union said industrial action by First Cymru staff would begin on 20 November and continue until 21 January.<\/p>\n
It follows what the union described as stalled pay talks over back pay it says is owed to staff.<\/p>\n
First Cymru, which has previously said it was committed to finding a solution to the dispute, has been contacted for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The strike action will affect services from depots in Swansea, Port Talbot, Bridgend, Carmarthen, Haverfordwest and Ammanford.<\/p>\n
The union said drivers were frustrated by what it called the company’s refusal to pay back pay from their annual pay dates and by rates that were “among the lowest” in the industry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Unite’s general secretary Sharon Graham said the company needed to “think again about how it is treating its workforce”.<\/p>\n
The union said First Cymru drivers currently earned \u00a313.40 an hour, compared to with \u00a315 an hour at Cardiff Bus and \u00a314.50 at Newport Transport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
