A well-known hotelier and restaurateur has been charged with murder following the death of his 100-year-old mother.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Mogford, 78, from Oxford, has been charged alongside 71-year-old Sarah Pickering, from Guildford, with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.<\/p>\n

Thames Valley Police said the charges related to the death of Pamela Mogford on 15 February 2022 in Bedlow Ridge, Buckinghamshire.<\/p>\n

The pair appeared via video link at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday and have been released on bail.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

They are next due to appear on 13 March.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Mr Mogford said: “I have cooperated fully with this investigation and, as I have said to the Police, this accusation is complete nonsense.”<\/p>\n

“Our mother was nearly 101 years old and died… of old age.”<\/p>\n

The 78-year-old founded various independent hotels and restaurants in Oxford including the Old Bank Hotel and Old Parsonage Hotel, Quod Restaurant, Parsonage Grill and Gee’s Restaurant.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
