A 21-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash outside Cookstown, County Tyrone. <\/p>\n
Police said that shortly after 06:45 BST on Friday, they received a report of a collision involving a Seat Leon and a Volkswagen Bora on the Pomeroy Road.<\/p>\n
They said the male driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene.<\/p>\n
A woman was also transferred to hospital for treatment for her injuries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Two ambulances and an air ambulance were sent to the scene.<\/p>\n
Democratic Unionist party (DUP) councillor Eva Cahoon said the community in the Cookstown area “are in a sense of shock and sadness following this fatal accident”.<\/p>\n
“This is devastating news and my immediate thoughts and prayers are with the family in this time of heartbreak and sorrow.”<\/p>\n
Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) councillor Trevor Wilson said it was “dreadful to hear of another tragedy on our roads”.<\/p>\n
“My thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic incident,” he added.<\/p>\n
The Pomeroy Road has since reopened.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
