Goalkeeper Danny Ward is set to miss Wales’ World Cup qualifier in Kazakhstan after he was carried off injured during Wrexham’s 2-0 win at Millwall on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Ward fell awkwardly while trying to claim a cross during stoppage time of the Championship game at The New Den.<\/p>\n
The 33-year-old received lengthy treatment on the pitch before he was placed on a spinal board.<\/p>\n
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said Ward was knocked unconscious and also suffered an elbow injury, and he has been taken to hospital to be checked.<\/p>\n
“It doesn’t look promising when you see a player stretchered off like that,” Parkinson said,<\/p>\n
“All we can do is wait and keep our fingers crossed.<\/p>\n
“But Kev [Wrexham physio Kevin Mulholland] has said to me it doesn’t look good so when the physio says that to you, you’re fearing the worst.<\/p>\n
“I think the concussion alone will rule him out for a certain period.”<\/p>\n
Former Liverpool and Huddersfield Town keeper Ward joined hometown club Wrexham from Leicester City on a free transfer in the summer.<\/p>\n
He is one of three keepers included in Craig Bellamy’s squad for the World Cup qualifier in Kazakhstan on Thursday and a friendly against Canada in Swansea on 9 September.<\/p>\n
Leeds United’s Karl Darlow and Adam Davies of Sheffield United have also been included in the squad but are not regulars for their clubs, while Ward had started all four of Wrexham’s league games so far this season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
