An 11-year-old girl has died at a Cornwall beauty spot after an incident in the water.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to Wacker Quay at Antony, Torpoint, after concerns were raised for a person in the water on Saturday at about 18:00 BST.<\/p>\n

The girl, from the South Devon area, was recovered and given emergency treatment but died at the scene.<\/p>\n

Devon and Cornwall Police said her death was not being treated as suspicious and a file was being prepared for the coroner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A spokesperson for the force added the girl’s family had been informed and would be supported by officers.<\/p>\n

Wacker Quay forms part of the Tamar Valley landscape and provides free public access to the River Lynher.<\/p>\n

Speaking to BBC Radio Cornwall, a coastguard spokesperson said teams had responded to 20 callouts throughout the day. <\/p>\n

They added the wind on Saturday afternoon did “catch quite a few people out”.<\/p>\n

There were 10 lifeboat taskings and “a couple of helicopter taskings”, they said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
