{"id":28394,"date":"2025-05-06T10:27:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T10:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/news\/kippford-lifeboat-called-out-to-late-night-yacht-rescue\/"},"modified":"2025-05-06T10:27:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T10:27:09","slug":"kippford-lifeboat-called-out-to-late-night-yacht-rescue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.godj.com\/news\/kippford-lifeboat-called-out-to-late-night-yacht-rescue\/","title":{"rendered":"Kippford lifeboat called out to late night yacht rescue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">A sailor had to be rescued after a yacht got stuck on rocks on an island off the south of Scotland at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The Kippford RNLI crew was called out to the incident at about 23:00 on Saturday at Hestan Island near Auchencairn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The sailor &#8211; who was unhurt &#8211; was able to get off the yacht onto the island and was taken back to the shore by about 02:00.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The vessel was towed back on the rising tide on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Kippford RNLI&#8217;s Gordon Blandford said: &#8220;The sailor had dropped anchor for the night near Hestan Island but due to increasing wind decided to move to a calmer anchorage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">&#8220;Upon attempting to restart the engine a mechanical issue was discovered leaving the boat with no power and it was quickly pushed on to the rocks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">&#8220;The casualty remained calm and quickly contacted the Coastguard for assistance meaning we were able to help before the situation deteriorated further.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c8ep00j5nzro\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A sailor had to be rescued after a yacht got stuck on rocks on an island off the south of Scotland at the weekend.
