BBC News, South East<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n An art gallery in Brighton has closed after more than 30 years of trading.<\/p>\n Enter Gallery cited a decline of the high street and mass art production by larger companies for its closure.<\/p>\n The art gallery in Bond Street was the first to sell Banksy prints, founder Lawrence Alkin said.<\/p>\n He said the evolving landscape presented challenges that were increasingly difficult to overcome.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n “Enter Gallery has always been about more than just art; it’s been about creating a space for conversation, connection and creative expression,” he said.<\/p>\n “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished, and while it is sad to close this chapter, we’re grateful for the community that has supported us over the years.<\/p>\n “Enter Gallery extends its deepest gratitude to the artists, staff, and customers who have been part of its journey.”<\/p>\n In December, Mr Alkin said Enter Gallery launched a “make or break” sale in order to generate funds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n In 2004, Mr Alkin held ‘Pop’ \u2013 an urban art gallery \u2013 which ran for three weeks and featured work from artists including James Cauty, Jamie Reid and Banksy<\/p>\n The event was one of the first to showcase the work of the mysterious street artist.<\/p>\n The gallery has sold more than 6,000 Banksy prints in total, Mr Alkin said.<\/p>\n It has also hosted events and exhibitions involving Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n![\"Enter](\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/480\/cpsprodpb\/4789\/live\/d221e960-d8b6-11ef-89b6-372b2b3acad8.jpg.webp\")
