Drake’s first Australian tour since 2017 will start on the same day rival Kendrick Lamar performs at the Super Bowl half-time show.<\/p>\n
The high-profile beef between the two rappers has dominated the hip-hop scene this year, with both swapping a series of diss tracks.<\/p>\n
Kendrick, who dropped surprise new album GNX <\/a>on Friday, is set to headline the final of the NFL championship – one of the most coveted gigs in music – in New Orleans on 9 February. <\/p>\n Drake revealed his Australian tour would kick off on the same day during an appearance with streamer xQc on Sunday night. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Canadian rapper didn’t provide any other details but said he’d be playing Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n Anita Max Wynn – the tour’s name – is a reference to Drake’s alter ego, a play on gambling phrase “I need a max win”.<\/p>\n He said the shows would be limited to Australia, and also said his upcoming album with singer and producer PARTYNEXTDOOR was “75% done”. <\/p>\n Drake also appeared to reference accusations made against him by Kendrick during the stream, telling xQc: “You need facts to take me out. Fairytales won\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n The tour announcement came just after Kendrick dropped GNX, his first album since 2022\u2019s Mr Morale & The Big Steppers. <\/p>\n Drake doesn’t get namechecked on the new release, but Kendrick does call out people who’ve backed his rival in some way, such as Snoop Dogg.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The beef between Drake and Kendrick dates back years but exploded about a year ago when Kendrick reacted to being named as one of hip hop’s “big three” with Drake and J Cole. <\/p>\n The pairs’ diss tracks have taken increasingly hostile swipes at each other’s families and appearance as well as their rap skills.<\/p>\n The February Super Bowl will be the first time Kendrick’s headlined solo – although there has been some criticism that the slot should have gone to Lil Wayne<\/a>, who’s from New Orleans. <\/p>\n Kendrick seemed to address this on GNX, rapping on Wacced Out Murals: “I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down \/ Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
