It is based on the amount of money the charity believes people need to earn. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It is aimed at UK workers aged 18 and over, but is not a legal requirement, and businesses choose whether to pay it. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The charity says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livingwage.org.uk\/accredited-living-wage-employers\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">more than 475,000 employees working for 15,000 firms<span class=\"visually-hidden ssrcss-1f39n02-VisuallyHidden e16en2lz0\">, <!-- -->external<\/span><\/a> currently receive the Real Living Wage.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The rate for workers in London &#8211; the London Living Wage &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c8dmp949r1qo\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">is going up by 70p to \u00a313.85 an hour<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In the rest of the UK, a 60p increase will take the rate to \u00a312.60. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Employers must implement the new rates by 1 May 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-politics-48445674\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Real Living Wage, external is an unofficial hourly rate of pay which is overseen by the Living Wage Foundation charity.
