Rapper and producer Lemfreck won the 2024 Welsh Music Prize in a grand ceremony at Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Newport artist fought off competition from rockers Skindred and singer Gruff Rhys, among others, to win the \u00a310,000 award for his album Blood, Sweat and Fears.<\/p>\n

The ceremony – the 14th annual awards – was held on 8 October at Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre and were hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Sian Eleri.<\/p>\n

Receiving the award Lemfreck thanked his parents, saying: “As a young black kid growing up, they constantly told me I could do anything and be anything.”<\/p>\n

He added: “This one goes to my community in Newport.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
