A total of 934 people performed the Vulcan salute at the same time at the Science Museum in London, setting a Guinness World Record.
Participants had to hold the salute for one minute for Tuesday’s attempt to count.
It was overseen by Guinness World Records adjudicator Paulina Sapinska, who presented a certificate to the museum’s commercial operations director, Ben Lheureux.
Dr Glyn Morgan, the museum’s head of collections and principal curator, said staff had been “really excited at the idea of breaking a world record”.
“It’s the 60th anniversary of Star Trek and we wanted something people would really remember,” he said.
