Wales defender Gemma Evans has joined Women’s Super League 2 (WSL 2) side Newcastle United after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season.
Centre-back Evans spent two years with the Reds having previously played for Manchester United, Reading, Bristol City and Yeovil Town.
The 29-year-old is one of the senior figures in Rhian Wilkinson’s Wales squad, having scored twice in 90 appearances for her national side.
“I’m happy this move is finally over the line,” Evans told the Newcastle website.
“I’m over the moon, I’m looking forward to meeting the girls, meeting the fans and showing them what I can do.
“I think it’s a really exciting project to be part of and I can’t wait to get going.”
Evans played 38 times for Liverpool, but departed after managing only Women’s Super League (WSL) appearance in 2026.
She joins a Newcastle side that finished sixth in the second tier last season but will hope to push for promotion to the WSL next year.
